Bank data hack to be probed by specialists

Cayman National warns customers about fraudsters, too

An Island-based bank which had data stolen by hackers has appointed specialist forensic IT consultants to investigate the breach.

Confidential information was taken from Cayman National Bank Isle of Man, including names, addresses, account numbers and balances of clients.

The branch says it's continuing to investigate the extent of the theft, and that it is liaising with relevant regulators and authorities.

Those affected by the breach will be contacted individually by the bank, but in the meantime anyone with questions can contact dataenquiry@caymannational.im.

Clients are also warned their details could be used for fraudulent activity, so the bank is urging its customers to be on alert for suspicious activity.
