The government has announced it’s set to legalise bedsits – and is holding a consultation on new laws.
Officially known as Houses in Multiple Occupation, or HMOs, they’re currently illegal on the Island but the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says they’re a necessary form of housing that has grown in recent years.
It’s plan is to force HMOs to register with a local authority, and set minimum standards for accommodation.
The consultation document is available on the government’s website, gov.im – and you have until Friday, March 10 to make your views known.
