BHS students may need to stay at home on last days of term

School experiencing staffing absences

A number of pupils at Ballakermeen High School may be asked to stay at home due to staff shortages next week.

In a letter sent to parents, head teacher Adrienne Burnette says staff absences are putting pressure on the smooth runnningof the school.

Twenty staff members are absent today, including half the canteen servers.

If contingency plans are required, students in years 10, 11, 12 and 13 will be asked to stay at home on the last two days of term - unless they have assessments.

Mrs Burnette says: "in a time of unprecedented change and uncertainty, our young people continue to display resilience and good humour".

The news comes after some Castle Rushen High School students had to work from home in recent weeks.
