Member of DEFA warns owners of birds to ensure biosecurity measures are in place
A member from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has described the recent bird flu cases seen at the Point of Ayre as 'horrific'.
MHK Michelle Haywood has issued warnings for owners of birds to ensure their biosecurity measures are firmly in place.
Dr Haywood says bird flu usually won't affect humans, so there's no need for residents to steer clear of various products containing eggs.
The UK is implementing restrictions on Monday to combat the rise of avian influenza.
However, Dr Haywood says the Island won't follow suit unless an infection in kept birds arises:
