Ronaldsway figures highest on record

It's been revealed the number of passengers at Ronaldsway Airport in 2017 was the highest on record.

There was also a substantial increase in the amount of people using the Island's harbours.

More than 807,000 passengers passed through the Airport last year - eclipsing the previous record by 772, which has stood from 2005.

The most popular routes were to the North West of England, used by almost 400,000 passengers, and to London, where the number of air travellers increased to more than 250,000.

The figures were revealed as part of the Department of Infrastructure's annual statistics.

Nearly 615,000 passengers passed through the Island's sea ports, which was a rise of around 17 and a half thousand from 2016.

The Liverpool route is now the most used, carrying almost 21,700 more passengers than Heysham, with sailings to Ireland also growing in popularity.
