Post-mortem to be carried out in Ireland

A body has been caught in a fishing boat's net near the Isle of Man.

A trawler, Elegance, was fishing for prawns in the Irish Sea when the decomposed corpse was retrieved from the water.

The vessel then returned to Portavogie harbour in County Down early on Tuesday (26 March).

Police and forensic teams examined the boat and removed the body, with a post-mortem examination due to be carried out soon.

The harbour master, Eddie Robinson, was called to the scene late on Monday night - he said the crew and skipper are very shocked and "badly shaken up", and are being looked after by the Fishermen's Mission charity.

The boat is operated by a local skipper, with most of the crew coming from India.
