Changes mean vessels must call at Manx ports
The Minister for Environment Food and Agriculture has defended changes to king scallop fishing licences.
From 8 January all vessels fishing for king scallops in Manx waters must call at an Island port after a day's activity to log their catch - the same requirement has been in place for queen scallops since 2014.
The decision was arrived at by the Scallop Management Board, after concerns about the accuracy of catch reporting hampering efforts to conserve stocks.
Dumfries and Galloway Council Leader Dr Elaine Murray says the change has come without consultation and is unfair on Scottish vessels.
