Boot hopes Island will 'lead by example'

85,000 trees to be planted in response to climate emergency

The environment minister says he expects 'a lot more trees to be planted on the Island' over the next few years.

It's after it was announced a new wood with 85,000 trees will be built at Meary Veg from 2020.

Geoffrey Boot told Manx Radio government wanted to 'lead by example' in its response to the so-called climate change emergency.

However, he struggled to reveal how much of an impact the initiative would have in offsetting carbon emissions.
