Breast unit reassessments 'top priority', says Ashford

DHSC to fast-track tests

Health and Social Care Minister David Ashford says those affected by problems at the Island's breast unit are his top priority.

This morning, he confirmed 26 women have been recalled for further assessment, having previously been given the all-clear.

The decision was taken following checks on more than 1,200 Isle of Man cases by UK experts, after concerns were raised about the work of one radiologist at Noble's between January 2015 and March 2017.

They had left the post before the matter originally came to light in September last year.

Mr Ashford says the GMC has been made aware of the individual, but for now, the 26 women affected are the subject of his department's focus:
