By-election fraud sentencing delayed

Three people convicted of election fraud will not be sentenced as planned this morning.

In September Charles Lewin from Crosby admitted three counts of election fraud, while last month, Douglas women Gail Corrin and Kerry Rothwell were found guilty of manipulating the proxy voting system, following a six-week trial.

The charges relate to the 2010 Douglas East by-election when Lewin was the campaign manager for one of the candidates, celebrity chef Kevin Woodford.

However, due to procedural issues, sentencing will now not take place.

There will be a further directions hearing at Douglas courthouse at 10 o’clock this morning.
