Calf of Man instates measures to combat avian flu

Residents urged to avoid contact with infected birds

A number of measures have been instated on the Calf of Man to prevent the spread of avian flu.

The step was taken after a dead guillemot with the virus was found on the Island.

People are being advised to avoid contact with infected birds.

Manx National Heritage's properties manager for land use and sustainability, Shaun Murphy, says it's still too soon to tell what the eventual impact will be on the island's bird population:
