Rules, punishments and suspensions could be investigated
An MHK says it's time for politicians to look at their own behaviour.
West Douglas member Chris Thomas will bring a motion to Tynwald next week, calling for the Standards and Members' Interests Committee to reconsider introducing new guidelines for conduct.
It comes in the wake of North Douglas MHK John Houghton's suspension over alleged 'bullying' last month.
Mr. Thomas says he'd like to see stricter rules, codified punishments and powers to 'recall' an election if MHKs act inappropriately.
He believes the time is now:
Lessons learned after snow day confusion
More than 100 firearms surrendered
Planning application to extend TT hospitality tent for new Food and Drink Festival submitted
'No tangible positives' achieved by public sector integrity line, says trade union
