Island trade union Unite has called on the Treasury minister to use his Budget to raise the fortunes of the Island's lowest paid workers.
Unite's call for tax thresholds to be raised to remove more people from the income tax net altogether, have been echoed by the Celtic League.
The nationalist group says the focus on squeezing public finances to bring public spending down, has hurt the poorest in society most.
