Call for moral tax law assessment

TaxWatch boss says laws are socially 'harmful'

A local activist who featured on the BBC programme which broke allegations of tax avoidance stemming from the Paradise Papers believes they should be viewed from a moral, rather than legal, standpoint.

Phil Craine told Panorama on Monday night that while many of the Island's structures are technically above board, they are socially 'harmful' in a wider sense.

He heads up the campaign group TaxWatch, which pushes for reform in offshore finance centres.

Speaking on Mandate this morning, he said the Island's unique position could be used for greater good:
