Three year trial to assess viability
New proposals extending the horse tram service in Douglas for two seasons have been met with approval from an Island support group.
Friends of Douglas Bay Horse Trams says it's confident the move could prove the long-term viability of the vintage line.
The Department of Infrastructure will seek Tynwald endorsement this month for recommendations to operate it in 2017 and 2018.
Trams would run from Strathallan to the War Memorial, marketed as part of the DoI's heritage railways.
The department says cash revenue in the two months since it began operating the trams (30 April - 3 July) is up 64% year on year.
