Cancer, Crogga and banking to dominate penultimate HoK of 2023

15 questions tabled at today's sitting

Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper will progress an attempt to remove the Bishop’s Tynwald vote today (28 November).

He’s bringing the Isle of Man Constitution Bill 2023 for its first reading at the House of Keys.

At this stage it would take suspension of standing orders to enable debate to take place on it; traditionally first readings of bills go through ‘on the nod’.

You can find out more HERE.

Ahed of the first reading of the bill MHKs will also give consideration to 15 questions which have been tabled for the sitting – the penultimate one before the Christmas break.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse will quiz the treasury minister about the discussions his department had with Barclays before it closed its branch in the ancient capital.

There are five questions from Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas who is asking for details of Crogga's licence and how much it would cost taxpayers to allow drilling without a 3D seismic survey.

North Douglas MHK David Ashford has tabled three questions about progress on a cancer centre on the Noble’s Hospital site and is asking for details of when conversations about it have taken place.

The House of Keys sits from 10am - you can listen live via Manx Radio’s AM 1368 frequency, via DAB or HERE.
