Protest planned outside Tynwald
Tynwald members will be greeted by protestors as they arrive to hear Treasury Minister Eddie Teare deliver the Island’s budget this morning (Tuesday).
Robert Farrer has organised a demonstration outside the building on Prospect Hill in Douglas against capability assessments being carried out by Dependability Ltd.
Forty-four per cent of people claiming illness benefits who’ve been assessed have been declared fit to work by the contractor – although half of those who’ve appealed their decision have won.
Mr Farrer says he’s angry about the way the assessments are being carried out and is inviting people to join him shortly before the court sits at 10.30am.
