Capital ranks worst for Census returns 

And 13.59% of forms outstanding across the Island

Douglas has the worst record for returning this year's Census.

Provisional data shows the capital's four constituencies rank in the top five for outstanding forms yet to be returned. 

With 25 percent of documents going unreturned Douglas East has the highest percentage on the Island, followed by Douglas Central with 17.8 percent, Douglas South with 13.29 percent and Douglas North with 12.59 percent.

Only Middle breaks Douglas' stranglehold on the top four with 13.08 percent going unreturned there. 

Ayre and Michael and Garff are the best performing constituencies with 9.02 percent and 9.29 percent respectively. 

Across the Island 13.59 percent of forms are outstanding with 38,505 returned of the 44,558 issued. 

The Cabinet Office says the number of letters sent out is provisional due to the presence of invalid or outdated addresses that have yet to be discovered.

The number 'includes vacant, derelict, or non-residential addresses that have yet to be identified'.

The Census was held on 26 April; returning the form is a legal requirement. 

So far £4,218.13 has been spent on postage for the return of census forms and £4,318.20 on printing.
