Council leader hits back over claims
The contract between the Borough Council and the former Department of Local Government and Environment - now incorporated into the DOI – has been described by Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne as a ‘waste of taxpayers'’ money.
It stipulates the department pays for any losses incurred by Douglas Corporation at its facility up to a 30-year period.
David Christian has laughed off criticism and says the corporation was first approached by central government over the car park more than 17 years ago:
