Care pathway suspension 'to give reassurance to patients'

 

The decision to suspend the Liverpool Care Pathway's use in the Isle of Man was made in the interests of patients' safety and their families.

That's according to Hospice Isle of Man Chief Executive Margaret Simpson, who's been speaking following a joint statement on the matter from the charity and the Department of Health.

Their move to suspend it follows a UK review which has recommended the guidelines for end of life care are phased out there within the next six to twelve months.

Mrs Simpson says there's never been a problem with it in the Isle of Man, but it was thought it was best to stop using it nonetheless:
