New measures introduced by DEFA
Catch limits and other controls will be in place for the new king scallop fishing season which opens on Wednesday.
Last year saw a large number of vessels in Manx waters with exceptionally high landings.
It led to the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture imposing a temporary daily catch limit to ensure stocks were sustainable.
94 boats have licenses for the seven-month long term to fish for king scallops within the Island's 12 mile limit.
They will be allowed to land 3,203 tonnes during the period.
A daily catch limit of 1,050 kilograms will be imposed on each vessel and skippers have to fill in catch forms electronically each day.
DEFA says the king scallop season is worth £12 million to the Island's economy and it will robustly police matters.
