Breaking down 'silos' on World Social Work Day

The Island's social care workers have been celebrated at an event at Douglas Golf Club this week to mark World Social Work Day.

The theme for this year is 'Buen Vivir: shared future for transformative change’.

With that in mind, 'breaking down silo mentality' between departments has been described as one key focus for Manx Care as it develops its 'Home First' approach to social care.

The audience at The Pavilion heard from speakers from the care sector and the first-hand experiences of social workers on the Isle of Man.

Consider a Career in Care

Earlier this year Manx Care announced that staffing at a new residential home in Douglas, Summerhill View, would have to be carried out privately, citing insufficient funding to staff and run it internally.
