Cross placed at war memorial
A Ramsey man who lost his life in one of World War I’s bloodiest campaigns will be remembered in his hometown later.
Thomas Goodwin Midwood died while fighting at Gallipoli in 1915, and Ramsey Commissioners will honour his memory this evening (Sat 22nd).
At 6.30pm a cross will be placed at the War Memorial in Ramsey to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his death.
Private Midwood of the 11th Manchester Regiment was wounded during fierce fighting and later died on board a hospital ship.
"We think it's inhumane the way he was treated."
