Changes to exemptions on prescription charges come into force

More people now have to pay for their prescriptions.

A change to age related exemptions for prescription and dental charges came into force yesterday (Sat 1st June)

Exemptions from charges now apply when the state pensionable age is reached which means for many they will have to continue paying for their prescribed medication until they're 65.

Currently people are exempt from 60.

However, Member for Health Dudley Butt says he believes the Island still offers a good deal when compared to the UK and there is help available for those on long term medication.
