Changes to Post Office services in Laxey and Kirk Michael

A Post Office counter will be located within the EVF Garage

Ellan Vannin Fuels is to take over the provision of postal services in Laxey from the 4 January.

A Post Office counter will be located within the EVF Garage, across the road from the current premises.

Meanwhile the procurement process for a new operator of the Kirk Michael Post Office should be completed by February after more than one expression of interest in the business.

Isle of Man Post says the interim contract with EVF will enable it to complete the work with the Council of Ministers on the future requirements for key government services and the community retail network provision.

The contract will run to the 30th of June next year.

Meanwhile the Social Security Department is writing to all Treasury cash benefits recipients to advice that from the 4th of January Mi Card payments can be collected from the new facility within the Laxey EVF garage.

Customers will benefit from longer opening hours. The Post Office counter will be open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 12.30pm on Saturdays.

In the short-term Kirk Michael Post Office customers can use the facility at Ballaugh, which is also extending its opening hours, after the closure of Kirk Michael on December 30th. It will be available 9am to 12 noon and 12.30 to 4pm Monday to Friday, and between 9am and 12.30 on Saturdays.

Benefits recipients will need to make alternative arrangements for collection after 30 December.
