Mark Christian hopes King's Fire Service Medal will 'shine a spotlight' on Manx emergency service
The Island's Chief Fire Officer says he's 'overwhelmed' after receiving the King’s Fire Service Medal as part of the 2026 New Year Honours.
Mark Christian has been granted the award in recognition of over 30 years of distinguished service with the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service.
Beginning his career in 1994, Mr Christian has risen through the ranks becoming CFO in 2022.
Posting a tribute online, the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service says Mr Christian has been 'a key influence in advancing partnership working, providing a greater level of protection and resilience for our Island'.
Government House describes him as 'a highly respected leader who was instrumental in delivering the Island’s live fire training facility, achieved through his determination and expertise, which has secured significant savings and enhanced on-Island training capability'.
