
Alfred Cannan admits progress on windfarms has been slower than expected
The chief minister says he expects government's position on renewable energy to be challenged in the run up to next year's election.
The Council of Ministers recently accepted for examination an application for an offshore windfarm, while proposals for an onshore development are still in the pipeline.
Alfred Cannan insists it's right for government to continue to pursue renewable energy, despite calls for a referendum on climate change to take place alongside the 2026 House of Keys General Election.
Former MHK Paul Quine recently called for such a vote, while Middle MHK Stu Peters will being a motion to December's sitting of Tynwald seeking support for the idea.
