Phil Gawne announced he's looking to create a new political body
News of a planned new political alliance, the ambition of a member of the Council of Ministers, has come as something of a surprise to the chief minister.
Allan Bell has been speaking after Phil Gawne announced he was looking for greater independence for the Island and potentially creating a new political body.
Mr Gawne has spoken of wanting to find out if people feel the need for change, and bringing power back to the people, things he feels he should be able to offer as a senior politician.
Mr Bell says he was aware of his colleague's long-standing views, but was surprised by his latest comments.
