Chief minister urges focus on priorities

Parking not pensions motivated debate

The chief minister has called on national politicians not to lose sight of the Island’s priorities.

Allan Bell was speaking after a week in which parliament debated a 50 per cent rise in the sewerage charge and plans to impose parking charges on Tynwald members and civil servants in Douglas.

In the same sitting, legislation was passed with little discussion, paving the way for long-term reform of the Island’s state pension, a move which will impact current and future generations.
