Chief minister welcomes vaccine approval

Howard Quayle admits jab roll out 'will take time'

The chief minister has welcomed the approval of a coronavirus vaccine.

The Pfizer/BioNTech jab has been approved for emergency use in the UK, with mass immunisation to begin next week for those most at risk.

Howard Quayle says it marks a 'significant milestone in the fight against Covid-19, and after an incredibly difficult year, offers a path to a brighter 2021.'

He confirmed the Island will have access to the UK's 40-million doses, our supply given in proportion to our population.

Mr Quayle adds the most vulnerable groups will be 'prioritised', but admits a vaccination programme 'will take time'.

More information on the roll out of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is due to be announced at tomorrow afternoon's government media conference, at 4pm.
