Chief Secretary role scrapped as gov't seeks CEO

Change follows review into most senior position in Island's civil service

The role of chief secretary is being scrapped, and replaced with a chief executive officer.

The change comes following a review into the most senior role in the Island's civil service.

The review was announced after former Chief Secretary Will Greenhow retired in May.

It's hoped the process to recruit the CEO will begin next month, once Tynwald has been asked to approve changes to regulations.

The shake-up of the civil service was one of the topics Chief Minister Alfred Cannan discussed on Mannin Line today:
