Chief's awards salute officers and civilians

Members of the police force and the general public will have their achievements honoured at a special ceremony today (Tuesday, April 21st).

The annual Chief Constable's Annual Awards Ceremony is being held in the Villa Marina to recognise people's efforts within the community.

A number of awards will be presented ranging from long service medals to community service accolades.

Outstanding public servants will be honoured by guest of honour Lieutenant Governor Adam Wood at a ceremony in Douglas this afternoon.

His Excellency will present a total of 65 awards acknowledging 'exemplary community work'.

Chief Constable Gary Roberts will highlight the work made by police officers, special constables, support staff and community volunteers over the last year.

The award categories include the Chief Constable's Certificate of Merit and the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal - as well as celebrating promotions and graduation schemes within the force.

Members of the public will also be rewarded in the Chief Constable's Commendation for showing courage, quick-thinking and selfless public service.

The event starts at 1.45pm in the Broadway Cinema at the Villa Marina.
