Douglas man ordered to pay repair costs
A Douglas man’s been ordered to pay a local authority in the south of the Island for damage he caused to a gate at one of its houses.
Twenty-nine-year-old Ashley Jordan Sayle, of Peveril Street, appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes for sentencing at Douglas courthouse.
At a previous hearing, he’d pleaded guilty to charges of causing criminal damage and provoking behaviour.
Mrs Hughes heard on 7 March he’d lost his temper and sent threatening messages to his former girlfriend in a row over access to their child.
Sayle went round to the woman’s house and kicked her back gate open to get into the property.
Ian Kermode, defending, told the court his client had since contacted a mediation organisation to arrange contact with his child.
Mrs Hughes imposed two community service orders of 120 hours each, to run concurrently.
She also ordered Sayle to pay £20 to Port St Mary Commissioners to cover the cost of the damage he’d caused, as well as £125 costs.
