Choice of polling stations for Douglas South voters

Pilot scheme to make voting more accessible

Voters in Douglas South will be allowed to cast their vote at any polling station in the constituency this year.

It's part of a pilot scheme designed to make voting more accessible and convenient.

The Isle of Man's General Election takes place in just under two weeks time on 23 September.

Normally voters are allocated one polling station – but in Douglas South they'll have a choice of three.

These are:

-       Pulrose Methodist Church
-       Anagh Coar Primary School
-       Scoill Vallajeelt

Returning officer James Quinn said: "We want to encourage more people to vote and we hope this system will allow people to choose the best location for them – so that they can cast their vote around work and family commitments."

However those casting their vote in Douglas South are being asked to 'be prepared' to travel to their original polling station if any issues with the new system are identified on the day.
