Christmas shoebox appeal launched to 'spread joy' to orphaned Ukrainian children 

Collections end 24 November

A local group that supports people in Ukraine has launched a Christmas shoe box appeal for orphaned children in the war-torn country.

Manx Support for Ukraine hopes to spread joy to the kids - while the war continues- nine months later.

They're asking people to donate a shoe box filled with essentials like toothpaste, a toothbrush, a hat or scarf and a small toy - which will be delivered to Boryslav secondary sanatorium school - which now acts as an orphanage and hospital for kids with special needs. 

Before the war, the orphanage has 30 children at the facility now its 183.

Collection points across the Island:

  • The Paw Patrol Doggy Day Care, Demesne Road
  • Zenith Industrial Products Ltd, Spring Valley Industrial estate
  • Mannin Barbers, Douglas
  • Complete Care, Village walk, Onchan

The final day for collection will be 24 November.
