Pay and display scheme draws criticism
Treasury Minister Eddie Teare says the Palace Hotel and Casino is quite entitled to charge for parking if it wants to.
In Tynwald this week he faced a question for written answer from South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft about whether the casino licence lets the business charge.
A number of people have taken to social media to complain since the hotel and nearby cinema began a pay and display scheme.
Mr Teare said although the license has a condition requiring 100 car parking spaces, there’s no stipulation they have to be free.
