A long-serving retired Manx police officer says towns and villages outside Douglas could suffer as a result of police cuts.
Over the next nine months, there will be an 11 per cent reduction in police officers around the Island, while two police stations – Port Erin and Lord Street in Douglas – will close.
The significant cutbacks have alarmed the chairman of Port Erin Commissioners, former Sergeant Ged Power.
He says the closure of his village station will be a sad loss and could result in zero manpower locally for long periods outside of the capital:
