Peters' blasts climate crisis as 'scare stories'
Money allocated to tackle climate change is 'impossible to justify' because the Isle of Man is not facing a climate change emergency.
That's the view of Middle MHK Stu Peters who has told Tynwald he doesn't believe the 'scare stories'.
Forty-two million pounds has been allocated to tackling climate change.
It's broken down as follows:
- £25m Climate Change fund will be established with the aim of moving the Island towards its target of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050
- £9m has been allocated for measures to support climate change adaptations
- £5m is being made available to mitigate the impact of environmental damage
- £3m will be added to the Environmental Protection Fund. This fund allows for bids submitted by departments that enable the development of climate change initiatives

However Mr Peters, who voted in support of the Budget, said he felt the money could be spent better elsewhere:
