Manx linguists immersed in tough puzzles
Four young code crackers have travelled to Mysore, India to represent the Isle of Man at the International Linguistics Olympiad.
The team members achieved the highest scores from 62 entries in the Isle of Man Linguistics Olympiad, which was held in March.
The four are Rosalie Kavan and Harriet Godby from Ramsey Grammar School, Seth Aycock from King William’s College and Queen Elizabeth II High School pupil Alex Hind.
Ahead of them lies a marathon six-hour individual language and linguistics code breaking competition and a four-hour team contest.
As well as competing, the team will attend lectures on the languages of India, Classical Indian Dance, Traditional Indian Board Games and the history and cultures of Mysore and Bangalore.
