Combining mill and bakery 'would have given Island secure bread supply'

Former minister says proposals were previously considered

Combining the Island's flour mill with a bakery to ensure the Island always has access to fresh bread has previously been considered by government.

That's according to former Rushen MHK Phil Gawne, who had two spells as minister in charge of the local food sector during his 10-year stint in the House of Keys.

It comes after Ramsey Bakery announced it would be closing down at the end of the month, with government due to hold talks with the business's owners later this week.
