Commissioners' chair questions SAVE

Government invited public ideas on how to make £25million of savings

A government initiative to save £25million has been questioned by the chairman of a local authority.

The Securing Added Value and Efficiencies (SAVE) scheme inivited public suggestions on where cut backs can be made over the next five years.

More than 1,200 ideas were submitted - incuding stopping the government subvention of Manx Radio and revising MHKs' pensions.

Andrew Jessopp from Braddan Commissioners says many of the ideas will have been put forward before and ignored:
