New measures to stop commercial vehicles taking up spaces
Those using the Union Mills car park this week will be greeted by a new height barrier installed by Braddan Commissioners.
It's been placed at the entrance to the spaces by the village Spar in an effort to stop large vehicles using the car park.
According to the local authority, damage was being caused to bollards, tarmac and walls at the site by vans and lorries.
Commercial vehicles were also blamed for taking up spaces which would otherwise be used by the public, and those using the Memorial Hall.
The new height barrier is set a 2.1 metres high.
