Commissioners invite all to community clean-up in Rushen

The local authority has joined with Beach Buddies for the event

Residents of a southern parish are being asked to join in a community clean-up event today, and give up an hour of their time to help.

Rushen Commissioners are inviting everyone to get involved in the event, meeting at 2pm at the Croit e Caley road junction at the Level, Colby.

This is the second community clean-up organised by the commissioners who are once again teaming up with Beach Buddies, with the charity providing all the equipment for the event.

The commissioners say they are looking for "as many volunteers as possible" to help tidy the roads, footpaths and hedges at the Level, Croit e Caley, the Ballagawne Road and Ballakillowey Road.

The local authority says it remains disappointed and frustrated by the careless nature of some people, often in cars, who seem unconcerned about throwing away their rubbish and litter and making a mess in the parish.
