Commitment to 'find solution' to police pay concerns

DHA and Police Federation agree to 'bring back options'

The Department of Home Affairs and Police Federation Isle of Man have agreed to try and find a solution to 'serious concerns' over police officers' pay.

It follows the publication of a survey by the Federation - the results of which showed what was described as 'profound desperation' in relation to pay and conditions in the constabulary.

In a statement issued today the Department of Home Affairs says: 'officers in the Isle of Man are a vital part of our community, working long and often unsociable hours, frequently under difficult circumstances.'

It adds the cost of living crisis has brought the issue of police pay 'into sharp focus'.

At a meeting of the Joint Consultative Committee yesterday, members agreed to form a working party to 'bring back options and solutions to address the highlighted issues.'
