Concern for property after Laxey landslide

Garff Commissioners want to see a 'fast response' to the urgent situation

A significant landslide at the former End Cafe plot on Laxey Promenade has raised concerns for the properties immediately above the site.

Garff Commissioners say they want to see a ‘very fast response’ to what they consider an urgent situation.

The area around the site, which is earmarked for re-development, is currently cordoned off; debris has continued to fall from the cliffside since the initial landslip earlier this week.

Deputy Clerk Martin Royle says the owners of the house directly above have so far not been required to leave their property:

Manx Radio has invited government to respond – businesses on the promenade are unaffected.
