170 delegates gather in Douglas
A conference established to encourage the breeding and protection of Viking breeds of sheep starts today (12 Oct) at the Manx Museum.
It's the first day of the North Atlantic Native Sheep and Wool Conference, attracting attention and visitors from across the globe.
Delegates won't just be counting sheep - as a programme of lectures, farm visits and workshops lay in store on everything from ways to improve fleeces, to the scouring of wool.
The conference was founded by Norwegian artist Karin Flatoy Svarstad, who's work with wool has led her to establish links with the Island, and other countries such as Shetland, Orkney, and Iceland.
This year the event will focus on building 'greater recognition' for the Manx Loaghtan.
