Building work began in May 2024 and has been done within budget
Building work on a new dedicated £3.3m Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) has now been completed.
The clinically-led facility, named Thie Darragh, has been constructed within budget.
It's set to become operational later this year, and will provide immediate clinical, psychological and practical support for sexual assault victims, as well as a modern forensic environment where evidence can be gathered to support the prosecution of sexual offenders.
It is said to be one of the most modern facilities of its type in the British Isles and will operate under strict forensic and clinical guidelines to ensure effective preservation of forensic evidence.
Minister for Justice and Home Affairs Jane Poole-Wilson MHK said: "Being a victim of a sexual crime is a harrowing experience.
"This Government has put in place new legislation and enhanced police powers to protect victims of sexual crime and bring offenders to justice.
"This new, specialist facility, will ensure the very best care for victims of sexual crime.
"We have ensured that the design meets the highest standards. The building, its facilities and the staff who will run it are truly impressive.
"A great deal of thought has gone into making sure this facility is focussed on making the experience for victims as smooth and supportive as possible."
Thie Darragh will now go through a commissioning process by Manx Care.
Its location is not being widely disclosed to give service users confidence that their privacy will be respected
