Price increases flagged by local merchants
The Isle of Man's construction sector still faces severe headwinds in the form of labour and skills shortages, rising materials costs and a planning process that's still not fit for purpose.
That's the view of Gary Proctor, the Island's recently appointed chairman of Construction Isle of Man, the representative body for the sector.
Mr Proctor says the prices of some basic materials such as timber and steel have stabilised, but there's barely a week goes by in which price increases for other products aren't flagged by local merchants.
