Consultation on over-75s TV licence fees in New Year

Policy and reform minister says Island expects same treatment as UK

A consultation on the future of TV licence fees for over-75s is expected to take place on the Island in the New Year.

The BBC is to end free licences for those in the age group, except those who receive pension credit in the UK, which doesn't apply in the Isle of Man.

Although approved in Tynwald, plans to change legislation to allow the corporation to offer the concession to Manx residents have been delayed by the General Election.

Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas told the House of Keys the Island expects the same treatment as the UK:
