Corlett: 'Totally frustrated' at lack of progress on 20mph zones

Still no progress says 'despairing' MHK

A Douglas Central MHK says she’s ‘totally frustrated’ at the lack of progress in implementing 20mph speed limits in residential areas.

Ann Corlett has twice brought motions to Tynwald which were fully supported but which have not yet been actioned.

She told Manx Radio she is ‘despairing’ at how long the Department of Infrastructure can ignore the will of the court.

The DoI was supposed to release a report in March 2021, and again last year, but didn't.

A public consultation of nearly 600 people showed most people to be in favour of the move which also included improving road safety in residential areas and around Ballakermeen High School.

That consultation has been praised by Mrs Corlett who says she’s still trying ‘very hard’ to get the traffic calming measures introduced.
